Join a small engineering team building backend infrastructure for a healthcare technology platform supporting radiology workflows and AI-assisted diagnosis. You will own foundational systems across data ingestion, storage, and distributed model inference.
What You'll Do
Design, build, and operate backend infrastructure for data ingestion, warehousing, and distributed model inference on AWS.
Own reliability, observability, debugging, and capacity planning across the stack.
Build CI/CD and deployment automation to help the team ship safely and efficiently.
Design systems that handle protected health information with encryption, access controls, and audit logging.
Work with the machine learning team on infrastructure and model inference pipelines as priorities require.
What We're Looking For
At least 5 years of experience in backend engineering, data infrastructure, or distributed systems.
Production experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems on AWS or a comparable cloud platform.
Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java, with strong hands-on backend engineering skills.
Experience with data pipelines, ETL, warehouses or data lakes, schema evolution, and deployment automation.
Track record leading multi-quarter technical initiatives across systems or teams, along with experience on a small, fast-moving team.
Ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems and weigh performance, cost, security, and maintainability tradeoffs.
Exposure to machine learning infrastructure or model inference pipelines, HIPAA-compliant system design, and TypeScript or React is valuable.
A STEM degree or strong computer science fundamentals.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $215,000 to $275,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

On-site in San Francisco, California, United States.

- Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems and balance performance, cost, security, and maintainability.
