About the role

About Us

At Alteva RCM, we're dedicated to helping healthcare providers thrive through expert revenue cycle management, strategic insight, and innovative solutions. We're always looking for passionate, driven professionals who want to make a meaningful impact, grow their careers, and be part of a collaborative team committed to excellence.

About Alteva RCM

Alteva RCM is a healthcare revenue cycle management company that partners with medical practices and surgical centers nationwide. We help providers operate more efficiently, strengthen revenue cycle operations, and navigate the complexity of today's healthcare environment.

We serve a wide range of specialties and operate at scale, with technology playing an important role in how we support clients and internal operations.

About the Role

We are growing our technology team and building new software that sits at the center of the medical billing process: eligibility checks, claim status, payer connectivity, document handling, and the internal tools our operations teams use every day. This is an early, hands-on role on a team that is still taking shape, so the people we hire now will help set how we build.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, build, and support production microservices and integrations on our cloud-native platform, which is primarily C#/.NET on Azure today, with room for other languages and cloud platforms where they are the right fit. You will work closely with the Technical Lead, operations stakeholders, and a distributed team of internal and outsourced developers, and you will own your work from requirements through release and production support.

We develop with AI-assisted tools every day, primarily Claude Code. We are looking for engineers who use these tools to move faster while staying fully accountable for correctness, security, and maintainability.

What You'll Own

Build & Integrate

Design, build, and maintain backend microservices and APIs, primarily in C# and ASP.NET Core

Build integrations with payer APIs and portals, clearinghouses, eligibility services, and internal platforms such as Salesforce

Design relational data models and write well-tuned SQL for high-volume operational workflows

Turn ambiguous business workflows into clear technical designs, and push back when a requirement doesn't make sense

Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate implementation, testing, and refactoring, while reviewing every change for correctness and fit

Quality & Reliability

Participate in code reviews, giving and receiving direct feedback across internal and outsourced developers

Support releases, rollbacks, and post-release validation in live environments

Improve logging, monitoring, observability, and documentation so the next person can understand and support what you built

Investigate and resolve production issues, using logs and monitoring to find root causes rather than symptoms

Team & Delivery

Work closely with the Technical Lead on design decisions, estimates, and priorities

Collaborate with operations, product, QA, and business stakeholders to understand how the work is actually done

Mentor and support other developers as the team grows

Surface blockers and risks early, and communicate clearly about tradeoffs

What We're Looking For

Required

5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with recent hands-on work building backend services in C#/.NET (ASP.NET Core) or an equivalent modern language and framework (for example, Java with Spring Boot, Go, or Node.js with TypeScript)

Experience building and supporting production backend services and REST APIs

Experience designing, building, and operating microservices, including service boundaries, inter-service communication (REST and messaging), and independent deployment

Strong SQL and relational database skills (SQL Server or similar)

Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure or AWS (or an equivalent cloud platform)

Experience integrating with third-party APIs, enterprise platforms, or data feeds

Solid testing habits, Git-based workflows, and experience with code review

Comfort using AI-assisted development tools, with the judgment to know when not to trust them

Clear communicator who can work with non-technical stakeholders and explain technical tradeoffs accurately

Comfortable in a live environment where systems are still being built and not everything is defined

Preferred

Background in healthcare, revenue cycle management, medical billing, or claims processing

Familiarity with healthcare data and transactions such as X12 EDI (270/271, 276/277, 835, 837) or FHIR

Experience with payer connectivity, clearinghouses, or eligibility and claim status automation

Salesforce or other enterprise CRM integration experience

Experience with document processing, OCR, or intelligent data extraction

Event-driven or message-based architecture (for example, AMQP or RabbitMQ)

CI/CD with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, and observability with OpenTelemetry and a backend such as Application Insights

Front-end experience (React or Angular) for internal tools

Experience working alongside outsourced or distributed development teams

Experience developing low-level agentic AI orchestration, such as agents that perform work on internal systems

What This Isn't

This is not a ticket-taking role. You will be expected to understand the business problem, question requirements, and own the outcome of what you ship.

It is also not a frontend-only or desktop role. Most of the work is backend microservices, integrations, and data on a modern, cloud-native stack.

Location

Our office is in Richmond Hill, Queens, NY, and we prefer candidates who can work there on a hybrid basis.

Why Join

Help build core technology for a growing healthcare company, with a short feedback loop between your work and real operational outcomes

Join early, as the technology team scales, and help shape engineering standards and practices

Work with modern tools, including AI-assisted development as an everyday part of the job

Grow alongside experienced technical leadership, with room to take on more ownership over time
