Location: San Francisco Bay Area (onsite)
Pay: $170,000–$220,000 + bonus + equity
A venture-backed, commercial-stage medical device company is hiring a staff engineer to own the real-time tracking and automation software in its clinical system. The concept is proven; this role takes it to release.
What you'll do
Own real-time tracking, localization and sensor fusion
Build a low-latency C++ runtime with GPU acceleration
Integrate robotic hardware and closed-loop automated positioning
Design safety behavior: interlocks, overrides, degraded modes
Run accuracy testing for regulatory verification, and mentor engineers
What you bring
6+ years of expert modern C++ on production real-time systems
Strong Python
Depth in 3D computer vision, sensor fusion, robotics control or ML for perception
Calibration, registration and coordinate frames
Owned a subsystem through release
MS in CS, engineering, physics or math, or equivalent experience
Nice to have: medical device software standards (IEC 62304, ISO 14971); surgical navigation or robotics; CUDA or TensorRT

Qualifications
- At least 6 years of expert modern C++ experience on production real-time systems.
- Strong Python skills.
- Expertise in 3D computer vision, sensor fusion, robotics control, or machine learning for perception.
- Experience with calibration, registration, and coordinate frames.
- Experience owning a subsystem through release.
- MS in computer science, engineering, physics, or mathematics, or equivalent experience.
- Medical device software standards, surgical navigation or robotics, CUDA, or TensorRT experience is a plus.
