Location: San Francisco Bay Area (onsite)
Pay: $190,000–$280,000 + bonus + equity
A venture-backed, commercial-stage medical device company is hiring a staff engineer to own the imaging pipeline behind every clinical result it delivers.
What you'll do
Own the cloud imaging pipeline: ingestion, registration, segmentation, analysis
Develop new targeting algorithms and AI methods
Run and scale the pipeline on AWS with containers and infrastructure as code
Cut runtime and extend the pipeline to new clinical uses
Work within medical device design controls, and mentor engineers
What you bring
5+ years of software engineering, much of it on imaging or scientific data
Expert Python and Git
MRI data (DICOM, NIfTI) and quality control
Neuroimaging toolkits such as ITK, ANTs, FSL or FreeSurfer
Strong scientific computing and statistics, and ML taken to production
MS in CS, engineering, physics or math, or equivalent experience
Nice to have: AWS Batch and GPUs; IEC 62304; deep learning for medical imaging

Responsibilities

- Develop targeting algorithms and AI methods.
- Run and scale the pipeline on AWS using containers and infrastructure as code.
- Reduce pipeline runtime and extend it to new clinical applications.
- Work within medical device design controls and mentor engineers.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience, much of it involving imaging or scientific data.
- Expertise in Python and Git.
- Experience with MRI data formats such as DICOM and NIfTI and with quality control.
- Familiarity with neuroimaging toolkits such as ITK, ANTs, FSL, or FreeSurfer.
- Strong scientific computing and statistics skills, and experience taking machine learning into production.
- MS in computer science, engineering, physics, or mathematics, or equivalent experience.
- AWS Batch and GPU experience, IEC 62304, or deep learning for medical imaging are nice to have.
