ABOUT THE JOB:
Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change
how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one
another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend
well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from
all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale
system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence,
natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is
growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project
critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as
you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be
versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new
problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.
In this role, you will be responsible for every subsystem in the Linux kernel
that makes virtual machines run. Your work will directly impact how Google
offers its services to billions of customers, and it is also the underlying
foundation of the Google Compute Engine product portfolio. As a team of
virtualization experts, you will participate in industry conferences and
advocate initiatives that shape the future of this field.
Our Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team designs and builds the
hardware and software technologies that power all of Google's services. Our
computational challenges are complex and unique, enabled by cutting-edge custom
hardware designed and made in-house. As a hardware engineer, you will design and
build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful
computing infrastructure. You will see those systems from concept all the way
through to high-volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the
machinery that goes into our data centers, affecting millions of Google
users.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills,
experience, and relevant education or training.
