About Abode Money

Abode Money is the first financial manager for homeowners. We save homeowners money on property taxes, insurance, mortgage and more, every year. Our vision is to be the first to create an ongoing relationship with 80M+ homeowners.

Homeowners spend $2T+ a year on their homes with almost no help. We're the first and only company that can lower property taxes in all 50 states, and there's no better way into the homeowner relationship than the bill everyone hates.

Most consumer fintechs are building slightly better versions of products that already exist. We're using AI to turn work that has always been a service into software, and there has never been a better moment to do it.

We've raised $23M from Permanent, Drive, Sequoia, Core VC and 81 Collection.

The Role

We're hiring a Software Engineer who is autonomous, reliable, and calm under pressure: the person people trust with the hard problems.

You'll own the core systems behind property tax, insurance, and mortgage end to end, from architecture to production reliability, working directly with the founders.

What You’ll Do

Own Core Systems: Build and run the services behind property tax, insurance, mortgage, and more.

Design for Scale: Build workflows and services that stay resilient as volume grows.

Structure the Messy: Turn county rules, PDFs, and edge cases into well-structured engineering.

Make Smart Tradeoffs: Know when speed matters and when reliability does, and make the call.

Work Cross-Functionally: Work with product, design, and operations to turn pain points into great user experiences.

Who You Are

In Austin or willing to relocate. We work in person 5 days a week.

2+ years of engineering experience, owning systems end to end from architecture to production

Strong backend or full-stack foundation with modern languages and cloud infrastructure

Are the engineer people go to when something really matters

Are genuinely excited about AI and use it every day

Are low-ego and raise the bar for the team around you

Our Values

We hire people who want to own their work outright.

Take ownership. You get more autonomy here than almost anywhere else. Own the outcome, make the calls, and see it through.

Move fast. Speed is our only advantage, so we ship first and refine after. Sometimes that means fixing things in the open, and we're fine with that.

Dive deep. Go to the source. Pull the data, read the county code, call the assessor. The details are where we win.

Be intellectually curious. Learn new domains fast and keep asking why. Now is the time to work smarter, and AI is how we do it.

Go all in. We work hard and put in long hours because the window in front of us won't stay open forever. We're looking for people who want to do the same.
