Staff Software Engineer - Ingestion Platform

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Ingestion Platform to join the team of a leader in the Media space.
This role will shape the architecture and evolution of a large-scale data ingestion platform that supports reliable movement of data across multiple workloads. You will partner closely with engineering teams to improve self-service capabilities, strengthen platform abstractions, and expand integrations across modern storage and data technologies. The position calls for deep technical leadership in distributed systems, fault-tolerant pipelines, and cloud-native platform design. You will also mentor other engineers and help drive operational excellence across the organization.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $217,000 – $303,900 annually
Responsibilities
Lead the development of the company's ingestion platform
Design and deliver reliable software for data movement across workloads
Own the architecture of the platform’s control and data planes
Expand the platform's capabilities to new integrations like S3 and Apache Iceberg
Build modular connectors and abstractions for various data stores
Improve the self-service experience with clear APIs and documentation
Mentor and guide other engineers on operational excellence and design
Qualifications
10+ years of experience building distributed systems or data infrastructure
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, or Scala
Expertise in designing and operating high-throughput, fault-tolerant data pipelines
Familiarity with Kafka, BigQuery, S3, GCS, Apache Iceberg, or similar technologies
Experience designing APIs and platform abstractions
Knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud-native platform concepts
