Staff Machine Learning Engineer(Platform - Identity)

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer(Platform - Identity) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.
This role will shape the machine learning systems that support identity verification and account integrity across a high-scale platform. You will own end-to-end ML architecture spanning document authenticity, deepfake detection, and fraud-focused identity graph capabilities. In close partnership with other ML teams, you will drive technical strategy, evaluate external models, and help define reliable routing logic that strengthens onboarding and trust.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $218,025 – $256,500 annually
Responsibilities
Own the complete identity verification ML stack, overseeing models from document authenticity to deepfake detection.
Build identity-graph systems using GNNs to cluster accounts for fraud detection during onboarding.
Develop anomaly detection models focused on session analysis and classifying bot vs. human behavior.
Drive vendor ML strategy by evaluating external models against internal benchmarks and creating routing logic.
Mentor and lead engineering teams while collaborating with other ML departments to ensure cohesive system design.
Qualifications
8+ years of experience deploying production ML systems at scale, with demonstrated technical leadership.
Familiarity with identity verification, biometrics, or account integrity, with expertise in at least two ML domains such as computer vision, GNNs, sequence models, or NLP/LLMs.
Proficiency in Python and experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch for model training and infrastructure.
Experience translating KYC/AML requirements into actionable ML roadmaps and communicating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to responsibly use generative AI while maintaining oversight to improve workflow efficiency.
