About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Real Estate & Construction space.

This role will shape advanced machine learning capabilities that improve marketplace matching, model performance, and the overall experience for users in a high-volume digital environment. You will lead the technical direction for machine learning systems, partnering closely with engineering, data science, and product teams to build scalable, reliable solutions. The position also calls for strong MLOps discipline, rigorous evaluation practices, and the ability to translate complex technical decisions into clear business impact.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $230,000 – $310,000 annually

Responsibilities

Lead the development of advanced machine learning models to improve marketplace algorithms.

Design robust MLOps practices for scalable deployment of machine learning models.

Own rigorous evaluation frameworks for deep learning and ML systems.

Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product managers on scalable ML systems.

Develop a long-term technical vision and set clear objectives for the team.

Mentor junior team members and promote a culture of technical excellence.

Qualifications

Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics.

6+ years of experience in data science and machine learning, preferably in tech and marketplace settings.

Hands-on experience with post-training and self-hosting open-weight LLMs, including fine-tuning and quantization.

Deep understanding of evaluation metrics for ML and deep learning systems.

End-to-end fluency in the MLOps lifecycle, from data versioning to retraining pipelines.

Knowledge of distributed application architecture and performance tuning.

Strong SQL, Python, and ML framework skills, including TensorFlow and PyTorch.

Excellent communication skills for conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
