For our client, we are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Technical Services space.
This role will shape the architecture and evolution of a large-scale observability platform that supports internal engineering teams. The work will focus on telemetry, incident automation, and production monitoring capabilities that improve reliability and make operational workflows more effective. You will partner closely with engineering peers, influence technical strategy, and help drive adoption of observability best practices across a broad organization.
You will also lead the design of systems that handle high-throughput, high-cardinality telemetry data and support emerging AI and ML observability needs.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $313,800 – $502,080 annually
Responsibilities
Define the architecture and evolution of the observability platform.
Lead the strategy for AI and ML observability in production systems.
Architect high-throughput telemetry pipelines that manage high-cardinality data efficiently.
Ship production code and manage end-to-end initiatives from prototype to production.
Design instrumentation APIs that make observability best practices easy to adopt.
Establish patterns for proactive incident response and monitoring.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor engineers to influence engineering strategy.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience building observability or telemetry tooling for internal engineering teams.
Deep understanding of telemetry pipeline design and engineering trade-offs.
Proven track record with incident automation and operational workflows.
Strong technical knowledge of OpenTelemetry and distributed tracing engines.
Experience shaping developer platforms that serve large engineering organizations.
