Software Engineer, Consumer Engineering

For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineer, Consumer Engineering to join the team of a leader in the Media space.
This role will focus on building and evolving consumer-facing backend systems that support a large-scale digital audience. The engineer will partner closely with product and cross-functional stakeholders to translate user needs into reliable technical solutions. A key part of the work will involve owning features from design through rollout, with an emphasis on experimentation, observability, and scalable service performance.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $164,000 – $229,000 annually
Responsibilities
Partner with cross-functional teams to develop technical solutions based on user needs
Own the end-to-end software lifecycle from design to rollout and observability
Design and analyze A/B experiments using tools like BigQuery or Firebase
Build and maintain scalable APIs and backend services for client consumption
Establish engineering best practices and improve workflows team-wide
Qualifications
3+ years of backend development experience in high-concurrency environments
Proficiency in backend languages like Go or Python; Java, Kotlin, Rust, and C++ also accepted
Experience designing scalable APIs using GraphQL, REST, or gRPC
Familiarity with caching layers and distributed datastores such as Redis, Cassandra, or PostgreSQL
Experience with or interest in AI-assisted engineering tools
