Location: DFW, Texas – Onsite
Start Date: Immediate Availability
Travel: 0–15% may be required

Role Overview
The Embedded Software Engineer will be responsible for participating in the complete software development lifecycle for embedded, real-time software deployed on unmanned robotic vehicles. This includes requirements development, software architecture and design, coding, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and support of fielded systems.
The engineer will work closely with systems, electrical, mechanical, and cross-functional engineering teams to develop software supporting vehicle control, programmable actuators, and perception sensors.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain embedded software features for robotic and unmanned vehicle applications.
Participate in the complete SDLC, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Translate internal and external customer requirements into robust embedded software solutions.
Design and implement real-time software using C/C++ for embedded processors.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and field-reported issues.
Participate in systems engineering activities to ensure seamless hardware/software integration.
Develop software for vehicle control, actuators, sensors, and other embedded subsystems.
Perform unit, integration, and system-level testing, including software simulation.
Apply continuous refactoring and develop maintainable, reusable software components.
Follow software engineering best practices, including SOLID principles and established design patterns.
Support integration and validation of software across complex, multithreaded embedded environments.
Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, controls, systems, and other engineering teams.
Support deployed/fielded systems and provide technical troubleshooting as required.
Follow Agile development practices and distributed version-control workflows.
Travel up to 15% may be required to support fielded systems or engineering activities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Master’s degree preferred.
7+ years of professional experience designing and developing embedded, real-time software using C/C++.
Strong experience developing software for embedded processors.
Experience with large, multithreaded embedded applications running on an RTOS.
Strong understanding of software design, implementation, debugging, and testing.
Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems and hardware/software interfaces.
Ability to work effectively in an open, collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment.
Strong communication, analytical, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skills.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred / Desired Skills
Experience with Agile software development methodologies and processes.
Embedded device driver development.
Experience with unmanned vehicles, autonomous systems, robotics, or mobile platforms.
Knowledge of flash programming tools.
Experience with communication protocols such as:
TCP/IP
UDP
CAN
SPI
RS-232
Experience with ROS / ROS2.
Experience interfacing with sensors such as:
GPS
LiDAR
RADAR
Ultrasonic sensors
Knowledge of robotic/vehicle control systems.
Experience with real-time systems, hardware interfaces, and embedded debugging.
Understanding of software simulation and hardware/software integration.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a Senior Embedded Software Engineer with 7+ years of hands-on C/C++ experience developing real-time embedded applications. Candidates with backgrounds in robotics, autonomous vehicles, unmanned systems, defense, industrial automation, automotive, or aerospace are particularly relevant.
Strong candidates will combine embedded software expertise with experience in RTOS, multithreading, hardware interfaces, communication protocols, sensors, controls, and system-level testing.
