The Program
IG Labs is Insight Global’s applied-AI division. We build and deploy agentic AI systems for enterprise clients on our own Factory SDK. This is a founding-cohort role helping to establish the standard for what an IG Labs Forward Deployed Engineer is.
The Role
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will work on-site and alongside enterprise clients to design, build, and deploy production agentic-AI systems on the IG Labs Factory SDK, our proprietary agentic SDK for building and deploying agentic systems at scale. You will translate ambiguous business problems into buildable solutions, ship production software (not prototypes), and communicate the value of that work directly to client stakeholders. Approximately 20–30% of the role is client-facing (solutioning, presenting, and stakeholder engagement); the remainder is hands-on building.
No prior AI experience required.
This is an applied engineering role. A research or ML/PhD background is not required, and prior LLM or agent-framework experience is not expected. The program teaches the Factory SDK, the semantic index engine, and agentic design patterns from the ground up. We hire for engineering foundation and client-readiness, and train the applied-AI layer.
Qualifications
9+ years of experience shipping and operating production software that real users or customers depend on. Or building and operating production data systems.
Strong background in a modern backend or full-stack environment, including services and APIs, data flow between systems, and the operational side of software (deployment, monitoring, performance, and cost). Or experience with data pipelines, data modeling and schema design, and reliable data movement at scale (batch and/or streaming).
Python fluency is required. Comfort across additional languages and the ability to pick up new tools quickly.
Strong communication skills and comfort in client-facing settings, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment with a high degree of ambiguity.
