Forward Deployed Engineer
About the role

This role implements practical, AI-enabled workflows that increase productivity, reduce manual effort, improve speed, and deliver measurable business value across PGA Tour departments. Working closely with internal stakeholders including product teams, engineering, data science and AI COE, cybersecurity, privacy, technology operations, and approved vendors.
The Forward Deployed Engineer documents existing workflows, defines requirements, configures approved tools with the AI Governance Committee, and supports rollout of repeatable solutions that are secure, accurate, reliable, and easy for employees to use.
This is an implementation-focused role centered on assigned use cases and department-level workflow improvements. The engineer evaluates whether a business need can be met through existing enterprise platforms, configuration, integration, workflow redesign, or vendor capability, and will escalate larger product, roadmap, architecture, or custom-development decisions to AI leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering, systems integration, solutions engineering, technical implementation, AI-enabled solution delivery, or a related technical role.
Experience configuring, building, implementing, or integrating enterprise software platforms, API integrations, data pipelines, and custom AI/LLM-powered applications.
Strong full-stack or backend skills including Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, REST APIs, cloud services, and modern software implementation practices.
Familiarity with generative AI tools, LLMs, system prompt design, retrieval-based workflows, knowledge bases, AI agents, connectors, and related implementation patterns.
Experience documenting workflows, translating stakeholder needs into technical requirements, and evaluating practical implementation options.
Robust interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently while collaborating with subject-matter experts as needed.
Familiarity with data privacy, cybersecurity, governance, responsible AI, and enterprise software approval processes preferred.
Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms preferred.
Sports, media, digital products, content operations, live event, or enterprise transformation experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Discovery & Requirements
Partner with assigned departments to document existing workflows, pain points, manual processes, and opportunities for AI-enabled improvement.
Translate stakeholder needs into clear requirements, workflow maps, acceptance criteria, and success measures.
Implementation
Configure and implement approved AI tools, connectors, skills, automation, and internal systems for department-specific workflows.
Build lightweight prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate feasibility and demonstrate practical value.
Evaluate whether stakeholder needs can be met via existing platforms, configuration, integration, or vendor capability versus escalation to AI leadership.
Delivery & Support
Support rollout, user adoption, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement for implemented workflows.
Educate stakeholders and employees on using assigned AI-enabled tools and workflows effectively and responsibly.
Create and maintain documentation, implementation guides, workflow maps, and training/handoff materials.
Capture user feedback, recurring issues, adoption signals, efficiency gains, and operational risks for assigned use cases.
Perform system configuration, integration support, testing, and operational tasks to maintain assigned workflows.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Partner with product, engineering, data science, cybersecurity, privacy, technology operations, and vendor teams to ensure workflows meet PGA Tour standards.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
