We’re seeking a Senior Cloud Software Test / Automation Engineer to join a global software verification and validation organization in San Diego.

This is a highly technical, hands-on role focused primarily on testing cloud-based software platforms, with some end-to-end testing involving embedded devices and middleware. The ideal candidate will combine strong cloud testing expertise, Python automation skills, and technical leadership experience.

In addition to remaining hands-on with testing and automation, this individual will provide technical leadership and mentorship to a distributed team of approximately 25 test engineers. This is not a people-management position and does not have direct reports.

Job Description

In this role, you will support the verification and validation of complex software solutions with a primary emphasis on cloud-based systems and services. You will develop and execute testing strategies, create and maintain Python-based automated tests, troubleshoot software issues, and help ensure the reliability and quality of cloud applications.

You will also provide technical direction and mentorship to a large distributed testing organization, helping engineers solve complex testing challenges and maintain consistent testing practices across teams in the U.S., Romania, and Mexico.

The position includes end-to-end testing of systems in which the cloud platform communicates through middleware with connected devices, so familiarity with embedded systems or connected-device testing is beneficial. However, deep embedded expertise is not required.

Experience with medical devices, FDA regulations, or other regulated environments is not required. Candidates with strong cloud, Python, automation, and software-testing backgrounds can be trained on the regulatory aspects of the position.

Nice-to-have experience includes: Microsoft Azure, cloud/software testing certifications, embedded software or device testing, medical devices, regulated environments, and Scrum/Agile development.

Candidates considering relocation to San Diego may also be considered.

If you’re a senior test/automation engineer who enjoys staying hands-on while also technically leading and mentoring other engineers, I’d love to connect.
