About The Role

The .Net Software Engineer at Zelis Healthcare plays a vital role in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions that meet business and customer needs. This position involves working across the entire application stack, contributing primarily to backend development with C#/.NET, while also creating engaging web interfaces using technologies such as Blazor, JavaScript, HTML, and jQuery. The ideal candidate possesses 3-5 years of professional software development experience, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with collaborative Agile methodologies. The engineer will be involved throughout the software development lifecycle—from solution design and code reviews to deployment, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS is preferred, along with a basic understanding of the healthcare industry, which is considered a plus.

Qualifications

Candidates should have 3-5 years of hands-on experience in software development, with proficiency in C# and .NET frameworks. Experience in developing and consuming APIs, integrating applications with backend services, and building web applications using Blazor, JavaScript, HTML, and jQuery is essential. A strong understanding of SQL and relational database management is required, alongside familiarity with Git for source control. The ability to write clean, efficient, and reusable code, coupled with experience in unit and integration testing, is critical. Candidates should possess a solid grasp of object-oriented programming, software design principles, and debugging practices. Knowledge of AI-assisted development tools and their responsible application in software workflows is advantageous. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills are necessary to thrive in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure software applications using C# and .NET.

Create and maintain RESTful APIs, backend services, and enterprise systems to support business operations.

Develop responsive web applications and user interfaces utilizing Blazor, JavaScript, HTML, and jQuery.

Write efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and database solutions to support application needs.

Translate complex business and technical requirements into well-structured, maintainable software solutions.

Maintain high standards of code quality through adherence to engineering best practices, including writing unit and integration tests.

Participate actively in application design discussions, providing innovative ideas and evaluating potential solutions.

Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.

Conduct peer code reviews, offering constructive feedback to enhance code quality and team knowledge.

Utilize Git and established source-control practices to manage code changes collaboratively.

Contribute to cloud-based deployments in environments such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.

Leverage AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity, testing, and documentation.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product owners, quality engineers, and architects to deliver high-quality solutions.

Engage in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.

Identify opportunities for process improvements, application performance enhancements, and technical debt reduction.

Stay current with emerging technologies and incorporate innovative approaches to improve engineering effectiveness.

Take ownership of assigned tasks, proactively communicate progress and risks, and deliver results on time.
