## About the Role

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a **Specialist, Software Engineer (Embedded)** to support and help lead the development and execution of software on targeted embedded hardware. The role focuses on designing software from requirements and system-level design documents, developing real-time embedded applications, and collaborating with test engineers to influence test automation.

You will work within an Agile development organization developing next-generation technologies for **unmanned air systems, radar systems, weapon systems, and RF sensor technologies**.

## Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop software for targeted embedded hardware using **C++**.
• Implement software for **embedded Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)**.
• Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical concepts to embedded software development.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to develop and evaluate system interfaces.
• Analyze operational performance requirements and contribute to overall system design.
• Investigate root causes of complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Work independently and as part of multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including:

• Requirements analysis
• Software design
• Implementation
• Hardware-software integration
• Formal testing
• Develop software test plans and procedures.
• Prepare technical documentation related to software development and testing.
• Use modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, build prototypes, and evaluate results.
• Participate in peer reviews.
• Identify, track, and resolve software defects.
• Collaborate with test engineers to support and influence test automation.

## Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in **Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field** with 4 years of prior engineering experience; **or**

• Associate/AA degree with 5 years of prior engineering experience; **or**
• Graduate degree with 2 years of prior related experience; **or**
• In lieu of a degree, 8 years of prior engineering-related experience.
• Minimum **5 years of experience** in computer/software engineering.
• Minimum **5 years of professional C++ development experience**.
• Active **U.S. Secret Security Clearance**.
• Experience developing software for embedded or engineering environments.

## Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing and testing **real-time embedded software**.
• Familiarity with **Green Hills RTOS**.
• Experience developing **device drivers and Board Support Packages (BSPs)** for real-time embedded systems.
• Experience with **Modern C++** techniques.
• Experience with **Agile Scrum/Kanban** development processes.
• Working knowledge of **Linux**.
