Role Summary

A Software Engineer II is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying complex software applications within an Agile environment. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that support government efforts in fraud detection and prevention within healthcare programs. The position demands strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications utilizing Java, Spring Boot, and related technologies.

Participate in all phases of the Agile development lifecycle, including planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Ensure code quality by adhering to standards, conducting reviews, and implementing unit testing.

Collaborate closely with product owners, Scrum Masters, DevSecOps engineers, and stakeholders to deliver functional software solutions.

Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.

Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for applications and processes.

Continuously refine development processes and tools to enhance efficiency and application quality.

Define API contracts using OpenAPI/Swagger and ensure consistent API design standards.

Develop service-to-service communication patterns using REST and messaging frameworks such as ActiveMQ, Amazon MQ, and SQS.

Contribute to automation efforts through test frameworks like Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, and Cucumber.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in software development with strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot.

Proficiency in RESTful API development, microservices architecture, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and message brokers (ActiveMQ, Amazon MQ, SQS).

Experience with version control systems (GitHub) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins).

Knowledge of SQL, Python, Bash scripting, Linux, and AWS cloud services (S3, EC2, RDS, EKS, CloudWatch).

Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform), data modeling, and databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle).

Experience with system monitoring tools (Grafana, Splunk, DataDog, CloudWatch) and data analytics tools (AWS QuickSight, Elasticsearch).

Strong understanding of agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum) and related tools (Jira, Confluence).

Excellent communication skills, teamwork abilities, and problem-solving capabilities.

This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.

Publishing Pay Range: $53.00 – $57.00 Hourly

This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
