Senior Software Engineer
About the role
Senior Software Engineer — Short-Term, On-Camera (Orlando, FL · Nov 3–8)
The Ultimate Coder is a production about how software actually gets built, and what happens when experienced engineers are put under real time pressure. We're filming in Orlando between November 3 and 8, and one seat has just opened up.
Who we're looking for
A veteran software engineer. Someone who learned the fundamentals the hard way, has strong opinions about how code should be written, and can defend them. You read stack traces for fun. You've shipped things that stayed shipped.
You should be comfortable being filmed, and comfortable thinking out loud while you work. That second part matters more than the first, and it's the thing most engineers underestimate.
Requirements
Substantial professional experience as a software engineer, ideally 8+ years
Deep fluency in at least one language, and enough range to be dangerous in others
Available in Orlando for the full window, November 3 to 8
Comfortable appearing in published video content
Able to work to a deadline with people watching
Nice to have
Open-source work, a conference talk, a stream, a blog, anything that shows you can explain your thinking
Experience pairing, mentoring or teaching

About The Ultimate Coder
The Ultimate Coder is the first reality competition series that turns software engineering into prime‑time sport. We take the craft out of the back room and onto the main stage, challenging the world’s most accomplished developers to solve high‑pressure problems while millions watch, learn — and judge. Each limited‑run event assembles hand‑picked talent from top tech firms, pioneering start‑ups, and open‑source hall‑of‑famers. Under unforgiving time limits, they architect, debug, and innovate in front of an expert panel of CTOs and legendary computer‑scientists who score every solution for clarity, efficiency, and sheer engineering elegance. Our pilot raises the curtain with a marquee matchup: five elite TypeScript authors versus a cutting‑edge AI, racing to design the most usable, type‑safe API imaginable. Bragging rights, a cash purse, and the title of Ultimate Coder hang in the balance—but the real prize is global recognition as the engineer who out‑coded both peers and machine. Follow us here for behind‑the‑screens insights, highlighted solutions, and casting news for future language‑themed battles. This isn’t just programming. This is The Ultimate Coder. Elite engineers. Epic challenges. Only one Ultimate Coder.
