Junior Software Engineer
About the role
The Software Engineer will work as part of the larger team to help in the design, development, and integration while helping to ensure consistency with company strategy and goals. Applications will be accepted until at least October 9, 2026.
Primary Responsibilities:
Participate in the analysis and review of epics, features, and user stories.
Participate in the design and review of technical design of component software features.
Participate in all Agile ceremonies such as Daily Stand Ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Demo/Reviews, Sprint Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinement.
Develop technical solutions based upon user specifications and technology frameworks, in adherence with Huntington standards.
Modify existing software applications as assigned.
Participate in code reviews and the integration testing of solutions.
Participate in the debugging and resolution of issues found during testing.
Assist in the documentation and implementation of software programs and solutions.
Work collaboratively with technical teams interfacing with assigned application.
Create and maintain system documentation, manuals, policy documents, etc.
Research and analyze production support issues.
Participate in production releases as scheduled.
Participate in the team’s on-call rotation for application support.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, or Related Field.
Experience with Java for back-end and API development.
Experience with Git or other version control tools.
Experience with SQL and writing queries.
Experience with non-relational databases such as Mongo, SQL, Oracle, DB2.
Preferred: experience with Python and Cloud technologies.
Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
Strong aptitude with demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn business and technology processes and solutions.
Ability to manage tasks effectively, meet deadlines and stay organized with minimal supervision.
Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly with team members and stakeholders when sharing updates and presenting work in team settings.
