  • About the Opportunity:

The Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Batch Infrastructure) will lead and deliver key quarterly goals for a backend infrastructure team. This role supports the development and maintenance of scalable compute solutions that enable critical batch processing workloads. The position involves guiding engineers through complex technical challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the availability and quality of infrastructure services.

  • Responsibilities:

Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team, leading engineers through ambiguous problems.

Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during product development.

Identify and lead resolution of project, process, technology, or business issues.

Monitor and support operational availability of team deliverables, including on-call duties.

Promote a culture of quality and ownership by setting and advocating for coding and design standards.

Provide feedback, guidance, and mentorship to develop team talent.

  • Requirements:

4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.

Experience with highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.

Familiarity with Workflow Orchestration frameworks such as Airflow, Flyte, Prefect, Temporal, or Luigi.

Knowledge of scaling frameworks like Spark or Flink for large-scale datasets on Kubernetes.

Ability to define technical plans with simple, extensible designs and write high-quality code.

Proficiency in making significant changes in large code bases safely.

Proven ownership of personal growth and proactive feedback seeking.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.

  • Pay Range and Compensation Package:

USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $195,000 - $255,000

USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $173,000 - $233,000

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and technology spending, and benefits including fully subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents.
