Senior Software Engineer

About the role

We are working closely with an AI startup on a mission most AI companies aren't even attempting: building an AI engineer for the physical world.

While most AI is writing code and generating text, this company is teaching AI to reason about heat, power, structure, and space — and to design real hardware systems alongside human engineering teams. Think data centers, automotive, aerospace and defense. The physics. The thermodynamics. The parts that actually have to fit together.

Their product is an agentic AI engineer with quantitative intuition over the design space and the ability to use the same complex engineering tools human teammates use. It's already completing end-to-end engineering workflows in a fraction of the time required by human engineers.

The role:

Build the agentic systems, tool integrations, custom models, and infrastructure that power their AI engineer

Work with agentic harnesses and structured design representations

Contribute to a deep competitive moat built on proprietary data and domain-specific model training

The bar is exceptionally high. They're looking for engineers with genuine intellectual curiosity, strong fundamentals, and ideally, you're someone who doesn't just build at work, whether it's side projects, open-source contributions, or experimenting with new AI frameworks in your own time, you have a genuine curiosity that extends beyond the day job.

They care about first-principles thinking, the ability to run rigorous evaluations, and engineers who are motivated by the ambition of what they're building: putting an AI engineer on every engineering team at every industrial company on earth.
