Job Title: Software Engineer II – Exempt

Location: Minneapolis, MN

Position Overview:

The Neuroscience portfolio develops life-restoring therapies and healthcare solutions that span the care continuum. The team integrates innovative technologies and clinical and economic evidence to improve patient access, procedural efficiency, and patient outcomes.

We are seeking a Software Engineer II to join the development team supporting next-generation Neuromodulation and Digital Health software products.

This position is suitable for a strong software engineer with experience in application development, software verification, test automation, or a combination of development and development-in-test.

The ideal candidate will have strong core engineering fundamentals, solid coding and debugging skills, and experience working in an Agile development environment.

The engineer will work closely with cross-functional and geographically distributed Agile teams to design, develop, test, verify, debug, document, and deliver high-quality software products.

Ability to participate in the complete software development lifecycle.

Experience with software testing or development-in-test is highly valuable.

  • Strong Programming Skills:

Strong coding skills in one or more programming languages.

Java, JavaScript, and Kotlin are preferred.

Strong understanding of programming fundamentals and object-oriented concepts.

  • Coding Logic & Debugging:

Strong problem-solving and coding logic.

Hands-on debugging and issue-resolution experience.

Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot software issues effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, test, and verify software products in an Agile development environment.

Develop software applications and contribute to development-in-test and test automation activities.

Design, build, and test web applications within a global cloud infrastructure environment.

Investigate, troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software issues.

Work closely with Agile teams through standups, sprint activities, development, and verification tasks.

Collaborate with geographically distributed development teams to ensure consistency, quality, and adequate test coverage.

Contribute to project milestones, deliverables, and final software releases.

Create and maintain software engineering documentation and development/verification records.

Ensure required paperwork, documentation, training, and project deliverables are completed on time.

Support the team's test automation strategy and implementation.

Participate in continuous process and software development improvements.

Provide timely and accurate status updates regarding development and testing activities.

Stay current with emerging software development technologies, practices, and industry trends.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, OR

Master's degree with 0 years of relevant experience.

Experience developing and/or verifying software products.

Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Strong programming skills in at least one coding language.

Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

Strong attention to detail and software engineering fundamentals.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong working knowledge of:

Java

JavaScript

Kotlin

Coding experience through professional work, internships, or academic projects.

Experience with Object-Oriented Design (OOD).

Knowledge of layered architecture, MVC, and common design patterns.

Experience with web frameworks and technologies such as:

Spring

JPA

Hibernate

Angular

RxJS

Experience with messaging and streaming technologies:

ActiveMQ

Amazon SQS

Kafka

Experience with relational databases such as:

MySQL

PostgreSQL

Knowledge of database design and data modeling.

Understanding of systems engineering concepts.

Understanding of multi-tenant and multi-user software architectures.

Experience with automated testing or development-in-test is a strong plus.

Experience working with cloud-based applications and infrastructure is preferred.
