A leading government contractor is seeking a Data Scientist to support a mission-focused federal program operating at the intersection of national security, intelligence, and emerging technology. The Data Scientist will develop advanced analytical models, artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, and machine learning (ML) solutions that transform large volumes of operational and mission data into predictive insights and decision-support products. This role requires expertise in statistical modeling, predictive analytics, data science methodologies, and AI-enabled technologies supporting operational planning, mission assessments, capability development, and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain advanced statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and AI-enabled analytical solutions supporting operational decision-making.

Utilize Maven Smart System (MSS), Palantir, Power BI, Python, and AI-enabled analytical platforms to develop predictive models and mission decision-support capabilities.

Analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured operational, intelligence, and enterprise data to identify trends, anomalies, correlations, and predictive indicators.

Design and develop predictive analytics, forecasting models, classification algorithms, and optimization techniques to support operational planning and resource allocation.

Leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science methodologies to automate information extraction, target identification, threat analysis, and operational assessments.

Develop dashboards, analytical visualizations, predictive data products, and executive decision-support tools that effectively communicate complex analytical findings.

Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Analysts, software developers, operators, intelligence analysts, and mission stakeholders to develop integrated analytical solutions supporting mission objectives.

Develop analytical frameworks and quantitative models to evaluate system performance, operational effectiveness, capability gaps, technology maturity, and acquisition priorities.

Support operational experimentation, technology demonstrations, capability evaluations, and acquisition efforts through advanced modeling and data-driven analysis.

Produce technical documentation, model documentation, analytical reports, executive briefings, and recommendations supporting senior leadership.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience: MA/MS with 10+ years’ experience; BA/BS with 15+ years; AA/AS with 17+ years; or HS/GED with 19+ years. Demonstrated experience applying data science methodologies to solve complex operational or enterprise challenges.

Technical Skills:

Experience utilizing Maven Smart System (MSS), Palantir, or similar enterprise analytics and data integration platforms.

Advanced proficiency with Python for data science, statistical analysis, machine learning, automation, and model development.

Experience developing predictive models, statistical analyses, machine learning algorithms, or artificial intelligence applications.

Experience utilizing Power BI or similar business intelligence platforms to develop advanced dashboards and analytical visualizations.

Strong understanding of supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques, statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and data mining methodologies.

Experience collecting, organizing, cleansing, validating, and exploiting structured and unstructured datasets from multiple operational and intelligence sources.

Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools, large language models (LLMs), or advanced analytics platforms to support operational decision-making.

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including the ability to develop technical documentation, analytical reports, and executive briefings.

Professional Skills:

Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts and model outputs to senior leadership in a clear and actionable manner.

Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary technical and operational teams.

Experience with doctrine, policy, analysis, or coordination within a large government organization.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting defense, intelligence, or homeland security organizations.

Experience in the counter-system or counter-threat mission space, particularly involving unmanned or improvised systems.

Familiarity with intelligence data sources, sensor fusion, geospatial intelligence, operational data feeds, and mission command systems.

Experience developing AI-enabled capabilities for object detection, pattern recognition, anomaly detection, or threat forecasting.

Experience with cloud-based AI/ML environments, distributed computing, MLOps, model lifecycle management, and enterprise data governance.

Experience supporting operational research, capability development, technology evaluations, or acquisition decision-making within defense organizations.

Backgrounds in surface warfare, aviation, maritime defense, or installation defense are considered transferable.
