About the role

The Senior Software Engineer II position in AI/Autonomy systems development will emphasize modeling/simulation (M+S) and software testing of complex autonomy systems in operationally realistic scenarios. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and supporting advanced M+S infrastructure for testing and evaluation of AI/Autonomy-enabled systems in multiple domains.

Essential Functions:

Develop advanced M+S infrastructure, and support testing of multi-vehicle autonomy for operational environments

Provide relevant technical expertise as part of a team to design, implement, simulate, and test autonomy software systems for uncrewed, multi-vehicle autonomy systems.

Support presentation of technical information and data to internal and external customers

This role may require occasional travel (10%) when necessary

Must be able to obtain and maintain a United States Secret Security Clearance

Requirements

Basic Skills:

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Software Engineering, Math, Statistics, Engineering, Physical Science, Operations Research, or Data Science

5+ years of experience with modern C++, CMake, Git and software practices including dockerized development, CI/CD workflows.

Experience in software development of autonomy and AI for Robotics, Machine Learning, Robot Planning/Optimization Techniques, and/or Autonomous Uncrewed Systems Software

Experience with Linux-based development environments and embedded platforms such as the Nvidia Jetson

Experience with modern software development tool chains and processes (Agile, /Gitlab/Github, Confluence/Jira, , , and automated test methodologies, etc.)

Preferred Skills:

Must be able to effectively communicate orally and possess technical writing skills

Must be able to work effectively as part of an integration-focused development team

Desired: Familiarity with DoD or other common robotics and datalink architecture standards (especially OMS/UCI and AFSIM, but also FACE, DDS, ROS, STANAG 4586, J-Series, UMAA etc)

Desired: Familiarity with Python and Conan package manager

Desired: Familiarity with AI robotic navigation and decision algorithms - path planning (A*, RRT), schedule optimization (Simulated Annealing, Genetic Algorithms, Tabu Search), distributed coordination algorithms

Experience working on DOD projects

Ability to hold a security clearance
