About the role

We’re partnering with a high-growth AI company building intelligent software that enables enterprises to automate complex, high-value workflows. As the platform continues to scale, the engineering team is focused on developing the core infrastructure that allows AI systems to operate reliably, efficiently, and autonomously in production environments.

The company is looking for a Senior AI Engineer to take ownership of the systems and architecture behind its next generation of AI capabilities. This is a highly technical, greenfield role spanning LLM infrastructure, agent platforms, orchestration, retrieval, evaluation, and production AI systems.

You’ll work closely with engineering leadership to shape the architecture of the platform, moving fluidly between rapid experimentation and production engineering. The role offers substantial autonomy and the opportunity to influence how the company builds, evaluates, and scales AI-powered products.

What You’ll Work On

Design and build core platform services for AI applications, including agent execution environments, memory and state management, tool calling, integrations, and computer-use capabilities.

Develop systems that enable AI agents to plan, reason through, and execute complex multi-step workflows with increasing levels of autonomy.

Build orchestration layers that intelligently coordinate models, APIs, tools, and execution strategies based on the requirements of each task.

Create flexible infrastructure capable of supporting multiple foundation models, providers, APIs, and emerging AI technologies.

Develop observability and monitoring systems to track agent performance, reliability, latency, cost, and behavior across production workloads.

Build evaluation and testing infrastructure, including benchmarks, datasets, automated assessments, and quality measurement frameworks for AI-driven workflows.

Explore advances in LLMs, retrieval, agent architectures, model tooling, and computer-use systems and determine how they can be incorporated into the platform.

Prototype new AI capabilities across areas such as prompting, retrieval, model routing, fine-tuning, agent design, and workflow execution.

Own the transition from experimental prototypes to reliable, scalable, production-ready systems.

Work alongside engineering leadership to make key architectural decisions and establish priorities for the company’s evolving AI infrastructure.

Develop reusable abstractions, technical patterns, and engineering standards that allow the platform to scale without sacrificing reliability or maintainability.

What You Bring

Strong background in computer science, software engineering, distributed systems, AI engineering, or a related technical field. A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable discipline is preferred.

Experience building and deploying AI-powered applications, LLM products, agent systems, intelligent automation platforms, or other sophisticated AI technologies.

Strong understanding of modern LLM architectures, including model APIs, function calling, retrieval, prompting, agent frameworks, orchestration, and model routing.

Experience operating in rapidly evolving AI environments where models, frameworks, infrastructure, and engineering practices are continuously changing.

Ability to assess new AI technologies and translate promising concepts into practical, production-grade systems.

Excellent software and systems engineering fundamentals, with experience taking technically ambiguous problems from initial exploration through production.

Comfortable working across both experimental AI development and traditional production engineering.

Strong sense of ownership and technical judgment, with the ability to independently drive projects and make architecture-level decisions.

Excited by greenfield engineering challenges and the opportunity to shape the technical foundation of an evolving AI platform.
