About The Role

We are seeking an Application Software Engineer (Associate or Experienced) to join the Phantom Works Weapons team located in St. Charles, MO, within the St. Louis area. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation weapons systems, including the Next Generation Cruise Missile program. As part of this innovative team, you will work on high-impact projects that require interdisciplinary collaboration, systems thinking, and technical creativity. The position involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining embedded software throughout its lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry, safety, and regulatory standards. The role requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access, reflecting the sensitive nature of the work involved.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, data science, physics, chemistry, or related fields, along with relevant experience. Candidates must be U.S. citizens eligible to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance, which necessitates U.S. citizenship. For the associate level, a minimum of 2 years of related work experience is required, whereas the experienced level requires at least 5 years of relevant experience. Strong knowledge of programming languages such as C++, Python, and C#, along with Linux development experience, is essential. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, software architecture development, network communication protocols (TCP/UDP), and software testing methodologies is also required. Preferred qualifications include active security clearance, extensive experience in software design and implementation, and a comprehensive understanding of embedded systems and hardware-software integration.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software throughout its lifecycle, ensuring adherence to safety, security, and industry standards.

Translate customer requirements into initial software design concepts, ensuring alignment with project goals and operational needs.

Develop interface definitions and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software components effectively.

Perform rigorous unit and integration testing to validate software functionality and performance.

Participate in peer reviews to ensure code quality, consistency, and best practices.

Support software system integration and testing activities, troubleshooting issues as they arise.

Create comprehensive software documentation to facilitate maintenance, updates, and compliance audits.

Contribute to continuous process improvements in software development workflows.
