About The Role
Tapestry Solutions, a part of Boeing Global Services, is seeking a Software Engineer in Maryland Heights, MO, to support future franchise programs. This role involves developing software for the next-generation Mission Planning system designed for the Department of Defense. As a key member of a software development scrum team, you will follow the SAFe Agile methodology to produce weapon planning software that leverages modern microservices architecture. The system utilizes JavaScript and React for the front-end and primarily C# for the back-end services. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring the system's robustness, scalability, and operational effectiveness, supporting critical defense missions worldwide.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in a highly collaborative environment, contributing to mission-critical systems that impact national security. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, hardware engineers, and program managers, to deliver innovative solutions that meet stringent security and performance standards.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, data science, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant software development experience. Candidates must be able to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance. Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, C#, and/or C++ is essential. Experience with REST APIs, version control tools like Git or Azure DevOps, and Agile development methodologies is required. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are vital for success, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with software testing, system validation, and documentation practices is also necessary.
Preferred qualifications include extensive experience in defense or aerospace software projects, understanding of cybersecurity principles, modular and open systems design, and experience with .NET MAUI. A higher degree or additional years of experience will be considered favorably.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain weapon planning software throughout its lifecycle, ensuring high quality and reliability.
Collaborate with the Product Owner to review, analyze, and translate customer requirements into initial software designs.
Support the development, enhancement, and optimization of software functionalities, including system integrations.
Develop and maintain software architecture documents, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and design specifications.
Debug and resolve technical issues promptly to ensure system stability and performance.
Participate in code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and system validation activities.
Assist in establishing, monitoring, and improving software development processes and best practices.
Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and secure coding practices applicable to mission-critical systems.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance software quality and development efficiency.
