Lead BMS Software Engineer

Key Responsibilities
Lead technical and cross-functional BMS engineering activities, including process control, requirements definition, architecture design, software implementation, HIL testing, field testing, system validation, and software release management.
Collaborate with global BMS teams and leadership to develop BMS architecture and requirements for high-performance system functions, functional safety, cybersecurity, and innovative solutions.
Manage BMS application software development plans, milestones, budgets, and schedules in alignment with technology roadmaps.
Build and maintain technical capabilities across BMS software, hardware, and validation teams while providing technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership.
Ensure successful BMS integration with battery packs and external interfaces, including vehicle control units, data loggers, and related systems.
Develop and maintain best practices and industry standards for model-based function development using MATLAB/Simulink in collaboration with interdisciplinary and international teams.
Govern the design, implementation, and testing of innovative control algorithms and real-time battery SOX estimation methods, including:
State of Charge (SOC)
State of Energy (SOE)
State of Health (SOH)
Lead the development of statistical, big data, and machine learning models for:
Predicting and forecasting field failures
Analyzing cell chemistry variations
Monitoring battery health degradation
Evaluating the impact of driving behaviors on battery performance, safety, and drivability
Foster a collaborative engineering culture that encourages feedback, diverse perspectives, and professional development.
Understand and support team members' goals, growth, and development needs.
Provide technical support across various functions within the organization.
Support product commissioning activities internally and at customer sites, both remotely and on-site.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
5+ years of experience in large, high-voltage battery pack development from concept through commercialization.
3+ years of experience leading or managing engineering teams.
Experience developing and verifying Battery Management Systems (BMS) for high-voltage battery packs.
Knowledge of BMS development in accordance with:
ISO 26262 Functional Safety
ISO 21434 Cybersecurity
Strong understanding of embedded control software development processes and documentation for safety-critical applications.
Experience using MATLAB/Simulink for model-based control development and electrical circuit/control simulation.
Strong knowledge of CAN communication protocols, including:
SAE J1939
CAN 2.0B
Familiarity with requirements management and development methodologies such as:
IATF 16949
APQP
V-Model
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Highly organized with a structured and detail-oriented approach to work.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Qualifications

- Strong understanding of embedded control software development processes
- Experience using MATLAB/Simulink for model-based control development
