Content Platforms & Operations is responsible for the development and ongoing advancement of the technical and operational functions driving the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney’s linear networks and theatrical content. This includes Disney’s media supply chain and storage, network and theatrical distribution operations, media localization, network transmission and origination, and more. The global team also plays a critical role as the primary collaboration point for Product & Technology with Disney’s EMEA, APAC, and LATAM regional business teams.

The Rights & Accounting fleet oversees products and optimizes workflows that enable TWDC to monetize content including content rights and avails management, content sales and content protection, content accounting, and talent payments.

Job Summary:

As a Software Engineer II, you will play a meaningful role working across Rights Management supply chain applications, building and supporting automation and enhance quality across diverse systems. In this role you will focus on building robust test automation frameworks and quality processes tailored to Disney’s content rights management system needs. You will collaborate closely with multiple internal and external teams to enable robust data integration capabilities.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

Technical Expertise: Possesses working knowledge of technologies used by the organization and contributes to key areas. Capable of fixing medium-complexity bugs and implementing stories with some guidance. Familiar with team practices and applies them effectively. Technical contributions are consistent and reliable

Use AI‑assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity, support automation testing, troubleshooting, and documentation

Develop automated test frameworks and suites on UI, API and Integration levels of testing using python or other OO language

Assist with triage, diagnosis, and resolution of issues discovered across teams

Contribute to end-to-end acceptance tests

Where necessary, develop and execute manual test cases to detect issues that cannot be detected through automated means

Drive the conversion of manual tests to automated whenever possible

Influence and Leadership: Serves as a resource for less experienced engineers and begins mentoring in areas of expertise. Shares information and communicates blockers more effectively. Participates in team discussions and delivers feedback

Ownership & Scope: Develops and tests features within existing systems and contributes to architectural direction. Breaks down features into tasks and participates in code reviews and planning. Decisions may influence the work of others. Scope includes small features and technical problem-solving within the team

Basic Qualifications:

3+ years of professional experience in a software engineering role

Minimum 2 years of hands-on software test development experience, including both functional and non-functional test development

Knowledge of Agentic workflows and MCP design patterns

Familiarity with AI-powered APIs and tools

Strong expertise in SQL, including database objects, relational database concepts, stored procedures, query optimization, and data modeling

Proficient in Java, Javascript, Python

Proficiency in SQL, Python/Java, and ETL processes, along with familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-based data warehousing e.g. Snowflake

Skills in data validation, modeling, ETL pipelines and software engineering principles

Strong desire for establishing and improving product quality

Experience building or improving test automation frameworks

Experience in CICD integration and pipeline development in Jenkins, Spinnaker or other similar tools

Experience in UI automation (Selenium, Playwright)

Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including continuous integration, unit and integration testing, functional testing, code reviews, and documentation

Familiarity and experience with Agile methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience within the media and entertainment industry

Knowledge of and experience with product management for content rights, licensing, and availability

Experience using modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, or similar) in testing, autonomous testing, accelerate testing, and enhance documentation

Experience with:

Selenium, Playwright

AI related tools (Cursor, Claude, Kiro etc.)

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and equivalent work experience

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $117,500 - $157,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
