About The Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Backend Software Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the growth of one of the nation's fastest-growing public sector fintech firms. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services and APIs that support our suite of financial tools. You will work with complex financial and transactional data pipelines, ensuring high accuracy and performance. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely, with occasional travel expected up to 5%. Reporting directly to the Chief Product and Technology Officer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and other engineers. The ideal candidate is goal-oriented, enjoys working with data-intensive applications, and is eager to grow into more advanced system design and architectural responsibilities over time.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive software engineering experience.
Proficiency in Python programming language.
Experience building and maintaining APIs.
Familiarity with React, modern JavaScript/TypeScript, and contributing to UI features.
Experience working with relational databases and version control systems such as Git.
Knowledge of CI/CD workflows and cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or similar.
Understanding of containerization basics.
Background in FinTech, banking, or financial systems.
Experience with data processing, ETL workflows, and analytics/reporting systems.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools.
Exceptional attention to detail, strong time management, and ability to handle multiple priorities independently.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable APIs and backend services to support our financial tools.
Work with financial and transactional data pipelines, ensuring data accuracy and system performance.
Enhance system reliability, observability, and overall performance metrics.
Contribute to front-end features as needed, collaborating with UI/UX teams using React.
Translate product requirements into technical solutions, owning features from conception through deployment.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code adhering to best practices.
Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and team knowledge sharing.
Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver cohesive user experiences.
Improve development workflows, standards, and automation processes.
Work with structured financial datasets and time-series data, ensuring correctness, consistency, and auditability of backend logic.
