About The Role

The Staff Machine Learning Engineer at Capital One is a pivotal technical leadership role responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable machine learning solutions that address complex business challenges within the financial sector. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field

Minimum of 10 years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing frameworks

At least 6 years of programming experience in C, C++, Python, or Scala

Minimum of 3 years of experience managing the full machine learning development lifecycle in a business-critical setting

Proven experience in developing and deploying scalable ML models and systems

Strong understanding of cloud computing platforms and technologies

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences

Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineering teams and fostering technical excellence

Responsibilities

Deliver robust ML models and software components to solve complex financial industry problems in collaboration with product, architecture, engineering, and data science teams

Drive the development and evolution of ML models and intelligent systems, ensuring they are scalable and efficient

Lead large-scale ML initiatives with a focus on customer impact and business value

Leverage cloud-based architectures and technologies to optimize ML model deployment and performance at scale

Optimize and maintain data pipelines to ensure high-quality data feeds for ML models

Promote best practices across all phases of the engineering and modeling lifecycle, including version control, testing, and deployment

Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence
