- About the Opportunity:
The Senior/Staff Software Engineer, Platform role is a senior-level hands-on engineering position focused on developing and maintaining the infrastructure and internal tools that enable rapid and safe product delivery. This role is critical to scaling the platform by managing deployment automation, developer tooling, and reliability systems.
- Responsibilities:
Manage and enhance AWS infrastructure using Terraform and Pulumi.
Develop and maintain internal developer tools, TypeScript libraries, SDKs, and reusable frameworks.
Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines and manage ephemeral pull request environments.
Improve system reliability through service-level objectives, error budgets, autoscaling, observability, and incident response.
Address performance and scalability challenges involving Aurora PostgreSQL and distributed services.
Collaborate with product engineers to streamline development, testing, and deployment processes.
Document complex systems and promote technical standards within the engineering team.
- Requirements:
At least seven years of software engineering experience, including platform, infrastructure, or backend development.
Experience in a high-growth technology startup environment.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and ephemeral environments, preferably with Buildkite.
Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js with production codebase experience.
Extensive AWS expertise across multiple service areas.
Strong skills in Terraform and/or Pulumi, including CI-driven workflows.
Knowledge of service-level objectives, error budgets, incident response, and observability.
Proven ability to ship production code.
Strong written communication skills for technical documentation.
- Pay Range and Compensation Package:
Base salary ranges from $150,000 to $350,000 depending on seniority and experience.
Senior-level roles may reach a $300,000 base, and staff-level roles may reach a $350,000 base.
