Lead Software Developer
About the role
Lead Software Developer
$165,000 - $215,000 DOE
I’m working with a US law firm that is investing heavily into its internal technology and AI capabilities.
They are looking for a Lead Software Developer to take ownership of the design and development of custom applications and AI-powered tools used across the business.
This is not a role where you will be leading from a distance. They want someone who still enjoys being hands-on with the code while taking ownership of architecture, technical direction and mentoring the wider development team.
What you’ll be doing
Design and build internal applications from concept through to production.
Lead technical architecture and development decisions.
Remain heavily hands-on with Python.
Build and improve CI/CD pipelines.
Own containerisation across Docker and Kubernetes environments.
Build AI and LLM-powered applications including RAG and agentic workflows.
Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development tools.
Mentor developers through code reviews and technical coaching.
Improve testing, code quality, scalability and security.
Work directly with senior stakeholders to turn business problems into technical solutions.
What they’re looking for
7+ years' software development experience.
Strong hands-on Python expertise.
Experience with Django, FastAPI or Flask.
Previous experience as a Technical Lead or senior-level IC.
Strong CI/CD experience.
Docker and Kubernetes experience.
Experience putting AI/LLM integrations into production.
Exposure to TypeScript / JavaScript would be beneficial.
Experience across Azure, AWS or GCP.
Experience building RAG pipelines, agentic systems, MLOps or AI applications would be a big advantage.
Package
$165,000 – $215,000 base salary DOE plus a comprehensive benefits package.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to remain technical while having genuine ownership over how a business builds, deploys and adopts modern software and AI.
If this sounds relevant or you’d like to hear more about the organisation and team, drop me a message.
