Job Title: DSP Software EngineerJob Description

This role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing digital signal processing algorithms for automotive applications, including advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), infotainment, active noise cancellation, and in-vehicle communication systems. You will work as part of an advanced engineering team, applying strong DSP theory and embedded systems expertise to deliver robust, real-time solutions on automotive platforms.

Responsibilities

Design and implement DSP algorithms for audio, sensor data, and communication systems used in automotive environments.

Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate DSP solutions into embedded platforms and production systems.

Analyze and optimize algorithms for real-time performance, memory usage, and power efficiency to meet automotive constraints.

Develop test plans, perform simulations, and validate DSP algorithms under representative automotive operating conditions.

Work closely with system architects, hardware engineers, and software developers to ensure seamless system-level integration.

Prepare clear and comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and compliance-related materials.

Contribute to continuous improvement of DSP development processes, tools, and methodologies within the engineering team.

Communicate technical findings and recommendations effectively to cross-functional stakeholders.

Essential Skills

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in DSP algorithm development and implementation.

Strong knowledge of DSP theory, including filter design, FFT, adaptive filtering, and related techniques.

Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems programming.

Hands-on experience with MATLAB for algorithm design, simulation, and analysis.

Experience developing and deploying DSP solutions on embedded systems and real-time platforms.

Familiarity with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.

Experience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and microcontroller or DSP architectures.

Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to diverse engineering teams.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Background in audio signal processing for automotive infotainment and active noise cancellation systems.

Experience with algorithm development for sensor data processing in ADAS and other safety-related applications.

Practical understanding of system integration challenges in automotive embedded platforms.

Ability to create well-structured design documentation and test reports that support compliance and quality processes.

Comfort working in an advanced engineering environment that emphasizes innovation, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Strong teamwork mindset and willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues across hardware, software, and systems engineering.

Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, typically involving 2–3 days in the office and 2–3 days working remotely each week, with on-site presence required on Wednesdays. You will work in a modern engineering environment focused on automotive technologies, embedded systems, and digital signal processing, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams. The setting supports both independent technical work and regular cross-functional collaboration, with access to simulation tools, embedded hardware platforms, and test environments appropriate for automotive DSP development.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Farmington Hills, MI.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $95.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
