About the role

Senior Data Scientist, AI

Location: U.S.-based

Travel: Some assignments may require 50–80% travel, while others may require little to no travel. At this time, we are only considering candidates who are open to travel.

Hours: Typically 40+ hours per week during an active project

Duration: Varies by project

Engagement: W-2 contract opportunities only

Use your data science expertise to solve complex business challenges through machine learning, advanced analytics, and AI. MBO Partners is supporting a leading global professional services firm in developing a flex talent network of experienced Data Scientists.

Professionals who successfully complete the qualification process and are added to the network will be considered ready to deploy and may receive early consideration for projects aligned with their expertise, availability, and travel preferences.

What You May Work On

Translate business questions into analytical approaches and data-driven solutions

Analyze large datasets using statistical, machine learning, and data-mining techniques

Design, develop, and evaluate machine learning, deep learning, and LLM models

Build production-grade AI solutions, including RAG pipelines and model evaluation

Deploy models through APIs or batch pipelines and monitor performance and drift

Optimize models for accuracy, explainability, latency, and cost

Collaborate with data engineers, ML engineers, clients, and other technical stakeholders

Communicate technical findings and recommendations to client and consulting teams

What You’ll Bring

Degree in computer science, machine learning, statistics, mathematics, engineering, AI, or a related quantitative field

7+ years of professional experience applying machine learning and data-mining techniques to real-world problems

Strong Python and SQL skills and experience with the Python data science stack

Experience with machine learning, advanced analytics, and large or complex datasets

Experience with technologies such as PySpark, Databricks, Airflow, Dask/RAPIDS, or similar

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus

Experience deploying machine learning or AI solutions to production is a plus

Strong problem-solving, communication, and client collaboration skills

Willingness and ability to travel 50–80% when required

What to Expect After Applying

Candidates selected to advance will complete a technical assessment, identity verification, conflict-of-interest review, and MBO’s Right to Represent authorization. Those who successfully complete these steps may be added to the flex talent network as ready-to-deploy consultants and considered for future client projects.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated compensation for active project assignments is $70-$150 per hour on a W-2 basis. Actual pay rate will depend experience, qualifications, location, and other job-related factors. While actively assigned, consultants will receive a fixed weekly amount calculated using the applicable hourly rate and estimated schedule. Compensation applies only during a confirmed project assignment.
