Job Title: Senior Software Engineer – Embedded Systems
Overview
Design and develop embedded C++ software for real-time munitions systems. This role is primarily hands-on as an individual contributor while providing technical leadership to project teams. You'll help deliver high-performance, safety-critical software that meets quality, cybersecurity, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop embedded C++ software for RTOS and bare-metal real-time systems.
Lead software efforts across requirements, architecture, design, coding, integration, testing, and verification.
Support hardware/software integration, simulation, and range testing activities.
Drive project execution, schedules, deliverables, and technical performance.
Collaborate with systems, safety, cybersecurity, and software architecture teams.
Participate in milestone reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and customer presentations.
Ensure compliance with software quality, configuration management, and engineering processes.
Identify risks, resolve technical issues, and provide guidance to engineering teams.
Track project metrics, cost, schedule, and resource needs.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of embedded software development experience.
Strong object-oriented C++ development skills.
Experience with RTOS and/or bare-metal embedded systems.
Linux-based embedded development experience.
Background in software architecture, integration, testing, and verification.
Ability to manage technical execution, schedules, and project priorities.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with safety-critical, mission-critical, aerospace, or defense software.
Knowledge of cybersecurity, software quality assurance, and configuration management.
Experience supporting government programs and formal design reviews.
Familiarity with EAC reporting, work package management, and project planning.
Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience.
Work Environment
Based in Maple Grove, MN, working within a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting defense programs. This role includes collaboration across systems, safety, and software teams, with opportunities for lab integration, testing activities, and technical leadership.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
