# SUMMER 2027 INTERN - MACHINE LEARNING ENGINEERING

## About the Role

Workiva is seeking a **Machine Learning Engineering Intern** for its Data Management and Analytics organization. This internship provides hands-on experience across the machine learning lifecycle, including model development, deployment, monitoring, tooling, testing, and AI-powered automation.

You will work alongside data scientists and full-time Machine Learning Engineers in a collaborative Agile environment, contributing to new tools, libraries, machine learning workflows, and AI Agents.

## Key Responsibilities

• Participate in discovery, requirements gathering, and prototyping of new tools and libraries.
• Implement tooling and features that support machine learning model development and deployment under the direction of a full-time Machine Learning Engineer.
• Help integrate tools such as **LlamaIndex** and **LlamaParse** into existing workflows.
• Assist with building and deploying **AI Agents** to automate data processing and analysis tasks.
• Participate in code reviews.
• Implement and update **unit and integration tests**.
• Track assigned tasks and provide status updates using internal tools.
• Work within an **Agile development methodology** alongside teammates.
• Support the development, deployment, and monitoring of machine learning models.

## Minimum Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a **bachelor’s degree or higher** in:

• Statistics
• Mathematics
• Computer Science
• Physics
• Electrical Engineering
• A related field of study
• Solid programming skills.
• Basic experience with source control systems such as **Git**.

## Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to work effectively within a geographically distributed team.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with the **data science lifecycle** and basic machine learning concepts.
• Experience with containerization tools such as **Docker** and **Kubernetes**.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as **AWS**.
• Proficiency with **Python and/or Go**.
• Familiarity with **REST APIs**.

## Work Arrangement & Schedule

• **Location:** Lake Worth, FL
• **Listed work arrangement:** Hybrid
• The internship is primarily a **remote opportunity**. Candidates located near a Workiva office hub may work in a hybrid capacity and utilize office spaces.
• Reliable internet access is required for periods of remote work.
• **Travel:** Minimal.

### 2027 Internship Start Dates

**Spring 2027**

• Start date: **January 4, 2027**
• Maximum: **15–20 hours per week**

**Summer 2027**

• Start date: **May 17, 2027**
• Maximum: **40 hours per week**

The position has opportunities for either Spring or Summer 2027, with availability to be indicated in the application.

## Recruitment Timeline
