Role Description The Software Engineer will work closely with product and engineering teams to design, build, and maintain the core platform that powers PPLIED’s hands-free hiring experience. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing scalable back-end services, developing new features, improving matching algorithms, and ensuring system reliability and performance. The role involves writing clean, maintainable code, participating in code reviews, and collaborating on architecture decisions to support a growing user base. The Software Engineer will also troubleshoot production issues, contribute to automation and testing, and help improve development processes and tooling. This is a full-time remote role, offering flexibility while requiring strong communication and collaboration in a distributed team environment.

Qualifications

Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.

Hands-on experience with Software Development and Programming in one or more modern languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go).

Proficiency in Back-End Web Development, including RESTful APIs, microservices, and database design (SQL and/or NoSQL).

Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and ability to apply OOP concepts to build modular, reusable code.

Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization/orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial.

Familiarity with version control (Git), automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring/logging tools.

Ability to work effectively in a remote, cross-functional team, with clear communication and collaborative problem-solving skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
