Sr Robotics Software Engineer IC4
About the role
Summary
We’re Blue River, a team of innovators driven to create intelligent machinery that solves monumental problems for our customers. We empower our customers – farmers, construction crews, and foresters - to implement safer and more sustainable solutions, driving increased profitability with less reliance on scarce labor. We believe that focusing on the small stuff – pixel-by-pixel and task-by-task - leads to big gains.
Blue River Technology is based in Santa Clara, CA.
Job Responsibilities
Leads the design and implementation of complex full stack solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
Identifies system inefficiencies and drives architectural improvements, ensuring high-quality deliverables across projects.
Mentors junior engineers, providing technical guidance and support through coaching, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Leads cross-functional collaboration efforts, ensuring seamless integration of features and adherence to product specifications.
The employee participates in, and often leads, the design and development of software algorithms for intelligent agricultural robots/machines. Specifically, efforts are focused on improving the accuracy of and reducing the redundancy of commercial agricultural chemical applications used in the growing and cultivating of large-scale crops.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 2 years of related experience.
Required skills:
Develop real-time capable software in C++ for Linux.
Experience with benchmarking and improving jitter in end-to-end latency (1 yr).
Use git and Bazel to build, test, and deploy vehicle software and firmware (1 yr).
Develop pub-sub systems that interact with sensors and actuators on robotics systems via CAN and Ethernet (1 yr).
Experience building end-to-end testing solutions for data-driven software, including unit, integration, HIL, and regression testing (1 yr).
Implement vehicle software utilizing ROS and robotics software packages such as AOS, Flatbuffers, Protobufs (1 yr).
May work remotely; periodic time in office required; must live within commuting distance of office.
Up to 20% domestic and international travel required for in-field testing, data collection, R&D, and system deployments at customer sites.
