Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Loan Origination and Reporting)
About the role
For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Loan Origination and Reporting) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.
This role will focus on building and scaling backend systems that support loan origination workflows and reporting capabilities. You will partner closely with product management, design, and analytics to deliver reliable technical solutions that improve system performance, data flow, and operational visibility. The position also involves guiding engineering decisions through ambiguity while helping raise the bar for code quality, execution, and team growth.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $173,000 – $233,000 annually
Responsibilities
Own and deliver quarterly team goals while guiding engineers through ambiguity
Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle
Proactively identify and advocate for solutions to project or technology issues
Support the operations and availability of team systems through metrics management
Foster a culture of quality and ownership by improving code review standards
Develop talent within the team by providing guidance and constructive feedback
Qualifications
4+ years in backend system design, development, and launch using Python or Kotlin
Experience with distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
Expertise in scalable backend data pipelines and batch processing systems using Spark or Airflow
Ability to define technical plans for significant systems with simple, extensible designs
Proficiency in making substantial changes to large codebases using safety practices
Demonstrated ownership of personal growth with proactive feedback seeking
Strong communication skills supporting collaboration across global teams
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
