Job Overview
We are looking for a Software Engineer – Performance & Load Testing to build tooling and automation that enables realistic traffic replay and large-scale performance testing.
The ideal candidate will have strong software engineering and scripting skills, with experience working with API traffic, event-driven systems, logs, large data exports, and performance/load-testing workflows. This role will focus on transforming production-like traffic and historical data into realistic, replayable test scenarios and supporting engineering teams with performance remediation.
Key Responsibilities
Design and build traffic-replay tooling for performance and load-testing environments.
Develop utilities to capture, process, transform, and replay realistic HTTP/API and event-driven traffic.
Parse and analyze large volumes of API logs, event logs, application logs, and traffic exports.
Convert large data exports into structured, reusable, and replayable performance-test scenarios.
Develop data-processing pipelines to clean, normalize, correlate, and transform raw traffic data.
Build mechanisms for generating realistic request sequences, payloads, event flows, and workload patterns.
Leverage LLM/AI-assisted techniques where appropriate to accelerate log parsing, scenario generation, data transformation, and test-case creation.
Develop automation for generating and triggering performance/load-test workloads.
Ensure replay scenarios accurately represent realistic production-like traffic patterns.
Handle large datasets efficiently and design solutions that can scale with increasing traffic volumes.
Integrate traffic-replay tooling with existing performance-testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
Collaborate with QA, Performance Engineering, DevOps, SRE, and Application Engineering teams.
Investigate performance issues identified during testing and provide technical support for remediation and optimization.
Analyze test results and help correlate application behavior with replayed workloads.
Write clean, maintainable, testable, and well-documented code.
Build automated validation and monitoring around traffic-replay workflows.
Document tooling, scenario-generation processes, data formats, and operational procedures.
Required Skills
4+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Performance Engineering, Test Engineering, or related roles.
Strong programming experience in Python, Java, Go, or similar languages.
Experience building automation tools, utilities, frameworks, or data-processing applications.
Strong understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, JSON, and API request/response patterns.
Experience working with application/API logs and event data.
Experience processing and transforming large data exports/datasets.
Experience designing or supporting performance/load-testing workflows.
Understanding of traffic replay, workload modeling, request sequencing, and realistic test-scenario generation.
Strong experience with scripting, automation, data parsing, and transformation.
Experience with Git and software development best practices.
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with performance/load-testing tools such as JMeter, k6, Gatling, Locust, or LoadRunner.
Experience with WebSockets, Kafka, event-driven architectures, or real-time systems.
Experience building traffic-replay or synthetic-traffic-generation frameworks.
Experience with LLMs, Generative AI, prompt engineering, or AI-assisted developer tooling.
Experience processing high-volume log data using technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Elasticsearch, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.
Knowledge of observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry.
Experience troubleshooting application performance issues and supporting remediation.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools and automated performance testing.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
