About the role

Quality Engineer (Playwright Automation)

Onsite 3 days per week – Seattle, WA

Contract with CDW – 6 months, potential extension

CDW is seeking a Quality Engineer to build our UI automation practice from the ground up. This is not a maintenance role. You'll be the first automation-focused QA on the team, responsible for designing and implementing a Playwright automation framework for a React application and .NET backend.

Must-Have Experience

✅ Playwright UI Automation (hands-on framework design and build experience)

✅ TypeScript/JavaScript test automation development

✅ Manual and automated testing experience (initially ~50% manual / 50% automation)

✅ Experience testing React applications and .NET APIs

✅ CI/CD integration experience (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.)

✅ 5+ years in Software QA/Test Automation

What You'll Do

Design and build a scalable Playwright framework from scratch

Create automated UI, API, and end-to-end test coverage

Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines

Partner with developers to improve application testability

Develop test data, authentication, and reporting strategies

Perform manual testing while automation coverage is being established

Own test stability, defect reporting, and quality best practices

Nice to Have

C# / Playwright for .NET

Azure DevOps

Docker

Accessibility or visual regression testing

OAuth2, Entra ID / Azure AD

Experience as the first automation hire on a development team

This role is best suited for someone who has successfully built a Playwright automation framework from scratch and is comfortable balancing hands-on manual testing with automation development during the first six months.
