About the role
Our DoD/Aerospace Client is looking to fill a Software Engineer position supporting software systems integration, DevOps test infrastructure, and spacecraft payload development. This role focuses on developing software tools, automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment infrastructure used across hardware development and test environments.
The position is based in Scottsdale, AZ and offers on-site or Hybrid/Flex workplace options.

Pay: $73.51/hour
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or a related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics field plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience
Schedule: 1st Shift
Clearance Requirement: DoD TS/SCI clearance preferred at time of hire; must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire
Position Overview
As the Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications, services, scripts, automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment infrastructure supporting software systems integration, DevOps test infrastructure, spacecraft payload development, and hardware test environments.
You'll build and improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines, develop software interfaces connecting lab systems and payload hardware, support containerized services, create automated tests, and troubleshoot integration issues across software, Linux systems, networks, containers, pipelines, and hardware-in-the-loop environments. You'll collaborate closely with systems, FPGA, electrical, hardware, test, and integration engineers to deliver reliable software capabilities and improve automation, repeatability, and developer productivity.
What You Bring to the Table:
Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or a related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics field plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience
Ability to design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and related solutions
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate solutions and troubleshoot issues
U.S. citizenship is required
Ability to obtain a Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire
Ability to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and successfully complete any required U.S. Government security investigation
What Sets You Apart:
Active DoD TS/SCI clearance at time of hire
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field
Mid-level software engineering experience developing maintainable applications, services, tools, or automation using Python, C/C++, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages
Strong software fundamentals, including data structures, object-oriented design, testing, debugging, version control, and code review
Experience building automated test suites using PyTest or similar frameworks, including test-driven or test-informed development practices
Experience with Git-based development workflows, including branching, merge requests, peer review, issue tracking, and release coordination
Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar platforms
Experience working in Linux environments such as RHEL or Ubuntu, including command-line tools, shell scripting, services, logs, and package management
Familiarity with containerized application development and deployment using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, or related technologies
Working knowledge of networking concepts, including Ethernet, subnets, routing, firewalls, ports, DNS, and lab network isolation
Experience integrating software with hardware, lab instrumentation, embedded systems, APIs, databases, or distributed services
Experience debugging across software, containers, Linux systems, CI/CD pipelines, network services, and hardware-adjacent interfaces
Ability to own software features or tools from requirements through implementation, testing, documentation, and user feedback
Ability to apply automation and AI tools to improve engineering efficiency, test repeatability, and software quality
