About the Opportunity:

The SENIOR MACHINE LEARNING ENGINEER - RANKING role focuses on developing and enhancing ranking systems that optimize how users discover and interact with the marketplace. This position drives improvements in ordering, prioritization, and personalization algorithms, balancing user satisfaction, business objectives, and system integrity. The role contributes by delivering measurable gains through rigorous experimentation and collaboration across multiple teams to implement resilient, data-driven solutions.

Responsibilities:

Design and improve ranking systems using rigorous measurement and experimentation

Translate broad goals into clear metrics and deliver validated performance improvements

Advance evaluation practices ensuring alignment between offline and online testing

Develop high-value features and reliable data pipelines incorporating various content signals

Ensure model stability through uncertainty-aware decisions and handling drift and calibration

Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Business, and Analytics teams to deploy end-to-end solutions

Requirements:

Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field with significant post-degree experience

Strong applied knowledge in machine learning, statistics, and optimization with proven impact on ranking or recommendation systems

Proficiency in Python and solid software engineering skills including testing and CI/CD

Experience with large-scale datasets, distributed systems, and latency-sensitive ML production environments

Effective communication, cross-functional collaboration, and ownership mindset

Pay Range and Compensation Package:

The expected salary range for this position is $140,000 USD to $170,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the company’s compensation practices and applicant's geographic location.

The position is eligible for performance bonuses or commissions and equity in the form of restricted stock units.
