Kforce's client in Brookfield, WI is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to support a strategic technology initiative focused on modernizing business processes and delivering scalable, data-intensive software solutions that drive business decision-making and measurable business outcomes. Summary: The successful candidate will take ownership of a defined business problem, partner with stakeholders to establish measurable KPIs, and deliver a production-ready application that transforms complex business data into actionable insights and recommendations. They will create a trusted system of record that captures application recommendations, user decisions, and business outcomes, enabling long-term measurement of solution impact, downstream reporting, and continuous refinement of both the application and underlying business process. Responsibilities:

Own delivery of a strategic business initiative from problem definition through solution deployment

Design and develop scalable, data-intensive software application components and backend services

Integrate data from cloud platforms, enterprise systems, SharePoint, spreadsheets, APIs, and other business sources

Transform manual and fragmented business processes into automated, scalable solutions

Deploy AI, machine learning, and agent-based capabilities within software applications where appropriate

Partner directly with stakeholders to refine business requirements, define success metrics, and establish measurable KPI frameworks

Design and implement systems of record that capture recommendations, decisions, and business outcomes to enable long-term impact measurement, reporting, and solution refinement

Establish data validation, monitoring, governance, and operational support processes to ensure solution reliability and adoption

Requirements

5+ years of directly relevant experience in software engineering, data engineering, machine learning engineering, BI/AI engineering, data science, or data analysis

Demonstrated experience building and deploying production-grade, data-intensive applications or services

Strong proficiency in Python and modern software engineering practices, including version control, testing, code review, and API design

Hands-on experience deploying complex solutions within the following platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and Oracle

Experience building data pipelines and integrating structured and unstructured data from multiple sources

Experience modernizing manual, spreadsheet-driven, SharePoint-based, or otherwise fragmented business processes through software, automation, and AI-enabled solutions

Experience working directly with business stakeholders to define requirements, iterate on solutions, and measure outcomes

Ability to operate independently, make sound technical decisions, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

Experience operating at a Staff-level scope or serving as a technical lead

Experience developing LLM-enabled applications, agentic workflows, or headless AI agents embedded in software

Experience establishing AI-enabled workflows, or data-intensive applications in a business environment

Experience with modern web application frameworks and cloud-native deployment patterns

Consulting, startup, solutions engineering, or embedded product engineering experience

This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who can quickly understand business challenges, work with imperfect data, and develop production-ready applications that create measurable business impact.

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
