Positional Overview
Imagine Staffing is recruiting for a Software Engineer III – Infrastructure & Automation on behalf of our client, a leading financial institution.
This is a senior-level infrastructure engineering role focused on the build, administration, automation, security, monitoring, and ongoing support of enterprise Linux and Windows Server environments.
The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience with Linux and Windows Server administration combined with infrastructure automation and DevOps technologies including PowerShell, Bash/Python scripting, Ansible, CI/CD, Git/GitLab, and Terraform.
This position will work across infrastructure, operations, security, and development teams to automate server provisioning and configuration, manage operating system lifecycle and patching, support enterprise monitoring and vulnerability remediation, troubleshoot complex production issues, and improve the reliability and efficiency of the infrastructure environment.
The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently on complex infrastructure initiatives while also providing technical leadership and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
Role & Responsibilities
Tasks That Will Lead to Your Success
Build, maintain, administer, and support enterprise Linux and Windows Server environments.
Perform hands-on Linux administration across environments such as RHEL, Ubuntu, and/or SUSE.
Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, deployments, patching, and recurring operational tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, and Ansible.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using technologies such as Terraform and ARM templates.
Build and support infrastructure automation through CI/CD pipelines, including platforms such as Azure DevOps and GitLab.
Utilize Git/version control for scripts, automation, configuration, and infrastructure code.
Support server provisioning, OS deployment, patching, certificate management, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
Support storage, backup, and disaster recovery processes.
Apply networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and firewalls when troubleshooting and supporting infrastructure.
Implement and maintain Windows and Linux security-hardening standards.
Support vulnerability management, endpoint security, identity and access management, including AD, LDAP, and RBAC.
Utilize enterprise monitoring and logging platforms such as Dynatrace, Kibana/ELK, Splunk, and/or Graylog.
Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term corrective solutions.
Participate in incident response, performance tuning, compliance, auditing, and operational documentation.
Recommend and implement new technologies, automation, and processes that improve infrastructure reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
Lead complex technical initiatives and provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.

Required / Highly Desired Technical Qualifications
Candidates should have 6+ years of relevant systems, infrastructure, or application technology experience, with substantial hands-on experience in enterprise server environments.

Linux administration and OS fundamentals — RHEL strongly relevant; Ubuntu and SUSE beneficial

Education & Experience
Associate degree and at least 6 years of relevant systems/infrastructure technology experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Experience within a large enterprise, financial services, or other highly regulated environment is preferred.
