About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer Mission Systems Software Developer to join our team at Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) in Daytona Beach, Florida. This pivotal role involves leading the development of mission-critical software systems that support advanced aerospace and defense applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing software components throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle, leveraging agile methodologies and modern DevSecOps practices. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects that enhance national security and space exploration capabilities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. A minimum of 10 years of experience in full lifecycle software development, including modeling, simulation, testing, and analysis, is required. Candidates must have a proven ability to work with programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, Java, Ada, and Linux environments. Experience with version control systems like Git, ClearCase, or Subversion is essential. Preferred qualifications include 14 or more years of relevant experience, strong decision-making skills, and prior leadership roles in software projects. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance are mandatory for this role.

Responsibilities

Participate in the development of use cases and requirements for mission systems software, ensuring alignment with project goals and customer needs.

Lead efforts to develop, document, and maintain software architecture, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for complex mission systems software.

Drive the development of code and the integration of software components into fully functional mission systems solutions, ensuring high quality and performance standards.

Provide technical leadership within the team, mentoring less experienced engineers and fostering a collaborative environment.

Act as an independent reviewer, offering insights and recommendations to Program Managers and customers to optimize best practices and identify areas for improvement.

Participate actively in all phases of program activities, from initial proposal and planning through to delivery and support.

Support the analysis of software quality metrics, identifying risks and implementing strategies for continuous improvement.
