About The Role

As a Senior Data Scientist at Bet365, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company's machine learning capabilities, particularly within the realms of Sports and Gaming products. You will be responsible for leading the end-to-end lifecycle of machine learning solutions, from conceptualization and development to deployment and monitoring. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams including Data Engineering, Product Management, and Operations to translate complex business challenges into scalable data science solutions. You will champion the adoption of MLOps practices on Google Cloud Platform, ensuring models are automated, scalable, and deliver measurable value. This is a hands-on technical leadership position that requires a passion for innovation, rapid iteration, and delivering tangible business outcomes through data-driven insights.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background with a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, complemented by extensive industry experience. Proven expertise in deploying machine learning models in production environments is essential, along with a demonstrated ability to mentor and lead technical teams. Candidates should have exceptional programming skills in Python, with proficiency in data science libraries such as Scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy, and XGBoost. Advanced SQL skills, particularly within Google BigQuery, are required. Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, especially Vertex AI, Pipelines, and Endpoints, is highly desirable. Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes, along with CI/CD practices, will be advantageous. Experience with real-time stream processing systems such as Kafka, and a strong understanding of MLOps principles, are also important for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy machine learning and AI models to optimize Bet365’s Sports and Gaming products, ensuring high quality and scalability. Lead by example through technical execution, maintaining best practices in coding and model development.

Build, mentor, and guide a pragmatic, delivery-focused team of Junior Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers, fostering a culture of rapid iteration, continuous learning, and software engineering discipline.

Collaborate closely with Data Team Leads, Product Managers, and Operations teams to align data science initiatives with business goals and platform capabilities, ensuring seamless integration and deployment.

Work with the UK-based Data Science team to share methodologies, align standards, and leverage global technical expertise, promoting consistency and excellence across regions.

Translate ambiguous and complex business questions into clear, actionable data science projects, delivering rapid prototypes and deploying solutions that generate measurable business value.

Partner with Machine Learning Engineers to implement robust MLOps practices on Google Cloud, automating model deployment, monitoring, and scaling to support business growth.

Establish and maintain data science workflows, standards, and code repositories from scratch in a new regional office, ensuring consistency, reproducibility, and high-quality outputs.
