About the Opportunity:

The STAFF SOFTWARE ENGINEER, Consumer Engineering is responsible for developing and scaling backend systems that support core user experiences related to content discovery, community participation, and user connection. This role focuses on delivering reliable, performant features through collaboration with cross-functional teams, directly impacting how hundreds of millions of users engage with the platform.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with product management, design, data science, and client engineering teams to translate business and user requirements into technical solutions.

Manage the full software development lifecycle for significant product initiatives, including design, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.

Design, implement, and analyze A/B experiments to inform engineering decisions using data tools.

Develop and maintain scalable APIs and distributed backend services optimized for client applications.

Promote engineering best practices, improve workflows, mentor peers, and leverage modern engineering tools.

Requirements:

Extensive experience (7+ years) in backend development of large-scale distributed systems handling high concurrency.

Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Go or Python; familiarity with Java, Kotlin, Rust, or C++ is also applicable.

Expertise in API design and maintenance using GraphQL, REST, or gRPC.

Experience with high-throughput caching systems and distributed datastores like Redis, Cassandra, or PostgreSQL.

Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with a user-focused and data-driven mindset.

Strong communication skills and experience driving cross-functional alignment in remote or hybrid teams.

Pay Range and Compensation Package:

Base salary range: $217,000—$303,000 USD.

Eligibility for equity in the form of restricted stock units.

Possible eligibility for commission depending on the position.
